Assistant Professor in the School of Information and Communication Studies, Susan’s research interests concern artificial intelligence, text mining and cross-disciplinary approaches to mitigating bias in machine learning algorithms.
Susan is interested in working with fellows to develop state of the art text analytics techniques and apply them to glean insights from unstructured textual data such as patient journals or doctor’s notes in order to improve neurological patient care and identify and mitigate against potential bias in data that may be used to train AI algorithms used in patient care.
