Dr. Dinakaran Thirumalai graduated from Thiruvalluvar University in Vellore, India, with a degree in biochemistry. He then pursued a Master of Science in Bioelectronics and Biosensors at Alagappa University in Karaikudi, India, focusing on electrochemical DNA biosensors. He earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Materials from Pusan National University in the Republic of Korea, where his research centered on nanomaterials-based electrochemical sensors for detecting reactive oxygen species and metabolites. He has held post-doctoral research positions at various institutes, including Pusan National University and Pukyong National University in the Republic of Korea.
As a NeuroInsight Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Fellow, he is currently investigating volatile organic compound (VOC) biomarkers for epilepsy using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC–MS). His research aims to develop non-invasive personal diagnostic tools for predicting seizures in epilepsy patients.
