Dr Emily Beswick completed her BA in Psychology and PhD in Neuroscience at the University of Edinburgh. During her time in Edinburgh, she was also employed as research assistant at the Anne Rowling Regenerative Neurology Clinic. Throughout her PhD she was supported by the Euan Macdonald Centre for Motor Neuron Disease Research and focused on digitising outcomes for clinical trials in people affected by this condition. She remains an Honorary Fellow at the Centre for Clinical Brain Sciences in recognition of her contributions to research.
Dr Beswick then undertook postdoctoral work at Newcastle University, funded by Alzheimer’s Research UK. She contributed to a national project evaluating the potential of a digital toolkit to facilitate the early detection of dementia causing diseases.
Dr Beswick then joined the Hardiman group at Trinity College Dublin where she is the recipient of a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship. Her current work focuses on the potential of digitally-collected speech data to inform us about the presence and progression of cognitive impairment in people with Motor Neurone Disease.
