Prof Kathleen Bennett is Associate Professor in Biostatistics in the Division of Population Health Sciences, RCSI and a Head of the Data Science Centre in RCSI. The Data Science Centre supports research at RCSI, by consulting on study design, analysis and reporting of health research. The Data Science Centre collaborates with RCSI researchers, departments and faculties on high-impact substantive research projects and lead cutting-edge methodological research advancing knowledge in biostatistics and bioinformatics. Prof Bennett also undertakes a programme of research in pharmacoepidemiology and epidemiology. Prof Bennett is a co-investigator in the EU-funded COLOSSUS programme researching new approaches to metastatic colorectal cancer and was a co-investigator in the Irish Cancer Society's collaborative cancer research centre, BREAST-PREDICT.
Prof Bennett has over 25 years experience of undertaking medical research. After completing her BSc in mathematics and statistics at Southampton University she spent two years working as a clinical trials statistician in the pharmaceutical industry before returning to Southampton to complete a PhD. She was employed as an epidemiologist/ biostatistician in the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Trinity College Dublin for several years before joining RCSI in 2016.
