Dr Thomas Legrand received a Master in Bioengineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in 2015. He then obtained a PhD in Kinesiology from Laval University, Canada, where he was trained in biomechanical engineering and studied the impact of gait retraining on lower limb joints loading under the supervision of Prof. Katia Turcot and Prof. Alexandre Campeau-Lecours.
Dr Legrand then completed postdoctoral work at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, at the Laboratory of Neurophysiology and Movement Biomechanics, where he was trained in neuroimaging and studied the involvement of the cerebral cortex in postural control under the supervision of Prof. Mathieu Bourguignon.
As a NeuroInsight Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow, Dr Legrand's research focus is to identify neurophysiological markers of proprioceptive integration and assess their behavioral relevance in healthy and chronic stroke individuals. It aims to refine our understanding of the cortical neurophysiological substrate of proprioceptive integration implicated in maintaining upright posture.
