Biography

Dr. Zahra Azizi received her MA in computer science from Amirkabir University of Technology and a PhD in Cognitive Science - Modelling from the Institute for Cognitive Science Studies, Iran. Her doctoral dissertation focused on studying decision-making in a real-world context where evidence arrives separately. The research explored behavioural, EEG, and pupillometry data to investigate perception, metacognition, and psychological states.

She later joined Trinity College Dublin as a post-doctoral researcher in 2022 to contribute to The Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (TILDA), specifically investigating multisensory perception in adults over 50. In February 2023, she joined the Centre for Gerontology and Rehabilitation at University College Cork, where she analysed data for a number of projects, including the Mapping of Parkinson’s Disease (PD) study and data from Irish clinical sites for the international "World Delirium Awareness Day 1."

As part of her NeuroInsight postdoctoral fellowship, she aims to investigate how internal and external sensory inputs integrate in individuals with PD and whether people with PD perceive the world differently.
